Theophilu Timothy of Budd Lake is accused of taking food and other small items from the Mount Kemble Avenue home around 9 p.m., Morris Township Police Lt. Robert Shearer said.
Timothy somehow freed himself from custody but was apprehended by police shortly after, Shearer said. He was charged with burglary, theft and escape from detention.
Timothy was later released and no injuries were reported.
No one was injured and there were no weapons involved.
